About the GVTTC
Welcome to the Genesee Valley Table Tennis Club (GVTTC) Home Page.
The GVTTC serves the Rochester community and provides a home for the sport of table tennis.
The Genesee Valley Table Tennis Club plays at the Rochester Sports Garden which is an excellent facility with great playing conditions: 8 Joola and Stiga tables, high ceilings, and an ample well-lit parking lot and a new Pulastic flooring.
There are leagues that play on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays. In addition, there is a general practice time available on Saturday. We have over 60 members, ranging in age from 10-70, that play in these leagues. League schedules and standings are online.
The GVTTC holds several tournaments that attract players from around the northeastern U.S. and Canada.
History of the GVTTC is online, under special articles.

Monday/Wednesday Night Leagues
About the leagues
The Monday and Wednesday night leagues are for all skill levels and are composed of 7-11 teams with 4 players on each team. Every Monday/Wednesday night each team member plays 3 matches against an opposing team. Every player is ranked.
The teams are created by dividing up the number of players by 4. For example, 44 players would result in the creation of 11 teams. The top 11 players are #1 Players, the next 11 would be #2 players, and so forth. A team is composed of 4 players-one from each player level division. However, this league will place friends and families on the same team if it doesn't overbalance the team.
Every week league statistics are provided. You can see your win-loss record by matches and games; find out what place your team is in; see what your rank is as a player in the #1-4 divisions. At the end of the year, trophies are provided for 1st and 2nd place teams. Trophies are also provided for each Player division. You could end up winning trophies as #1 team and #1 player in the #2 player division.
2011-2012 Winter Season

Tuesday Night Classic League
About the league
The Classic League features the best players in Rochester.
New players along with some of the lowest ranked regular players from last year, must try out. Please see the League Calendar for tryout dates. These are usually in September prior to the league starting in October.
The club opens at 5 P.M. with play beginning promptly at 6:30 P.M. and ending before 10 P.M. Details regarding league rules, along with the schedule, will be handed out at the League meeting at the RSG.
2011-2012 season
This season the league will again follow two formats similar to the last several years. Teams (Format A) interspersed with Ladder Nights(Format B) The formats are described in detail in the League Rules document.
Teams (aka Format A) will comprise of 3-man teams, 10 teams playing and 2 teams with byes. Each player plays three singles matches against the other team and a single doubles-match is played between the teams with pairings rotating week to week.
Ladder Night (aka Format B) will comprise of 32 players with 4 players receiving a bye. The 32 players will be stack ranked from top to bottom and separated into 8 tables of 4. Each table will play a round robin among the four.
After each week's play, the top two of each table round robin will be re-ranked above the others on that table and also above the bottom two of the table above, thus making it likely to play on the higher table the next time. In addition, this year, a sub's results will affect a player's ladder standings.
