Feb 7, 2015: GVTTC members participated in a Table Tennis Exhibition at the Main Court of the Eastview Mall in Victor on two club tables. We brought in the tables before 9:00am and stayed until after 5:00pm (thanks to Oded and Kalir Farms for loaning us a great big truck -- made a multi-table club environment possible at the Mall). A group representing the diverse membership of the club was available at all times to talk to mall shoppers about the sport and engage people in playing a few matches. We handed out nice club brochures in full color (thanks to Dan Emord for printing them for us) and some tournament fliers as well.
This demo was well received at the Mall, and we got a positive public response with a good number of people of all ages stopping in to play with club members. We discovered at-least one or two players, able to potentially hold their own against some of the better players in the club. All who participated had a good time, and we hope to involve more club members, in future events promoting the sport around town.
Thanks to all who came out, in particular to Bob Swarthout, who was instrumental in convincing the Mall to provide us this space. Thanks also to the management of the Eastview Mall for providing an excellent space for us to entertain and engage Eastview Mall shoppers. The Town of Victor also kindly permitted us to use a public space for an informational demonstration.
